Department of Jinotega

The department of Jinotega (in Spanish: be Departamento de Jinotega ) is one of the 15 departments Nicaragua. It is wide on: 9755 km ² and have a population of: 297300 hab. (estimate 2005). Its capital is Jinotega.

Geography

The department is bordering:

in north, of the republic of the Honduras;
in the east, of the autonomous region of the Atlántico Norte;
in the south, of the department of Matagalpa;
in south-west, of the department of Estelí;
in the west, of the departments of Madriz and Nueva Segovia.
