Dental composite

In dentistry, a composite is a material of used to seal and reconstitute the Dent S. Its advantage principal being to be able to imitate the color blanchâtre of a tooth. This material is much more recent than the amalgamates.

At the beginning it was especially used for esthetic reasons on the former teeth. But of important progress allow from now on a use much broader, complementary with the amalgam. It consists of mineral loads drowned in an organic matrix.

Advantages:

  • more flexible than the amalgam (hardness very close to that of the dentine).
  • Esthetic.

Disadvantages:

  • Requires to be perfectly with dryness (if not joining cannot be done).
  • Requires better a hygiene on behalf of the patient.
  • Risk of intolerance.
