Densha Otoko

History

Yamada Tsuyoshi, young man 23 year old, is not the model of the filled man. Weak, rather unlucky person, charié by his owner and his colleagues of office, it has an exhausting life and to crown the whole, it is a otaku all that there is of truer, which is not to improve its relations with the " normaux" people;. It is in this context of rather miserable life that the event of its life will arrive to him. One evening in the train, of return of Akihabara , popular quarters of favorite Tokyo of the otaku , it takes the defense of an young woman that an old drunk man attacked verbally. The poor young man does not leave himself there without a blow on the nose and is made steal the high-speed motorboat by a salaryman (businessman) which gets rid of the old man. That being, the young woman, Saori, is touched by its courage and takes its address to forward to him a gift of remerciement.

And it is there that a key element of this series plays a part: the forum. Returned at his place, Tsuyoshi is connected on a forum for single people " Aladdin Channel" that it had not made, until now, that to read and starts to tell its history there… The continuation of this series thus tells how all the people present on the forum will help the Tsuyoshi young person to conquer the heart of soft Saori in spite of the obvious differences in personality on the one hand but also of lifestyle which separate them (him, resulting from a modest family, is an inveterate otaku whereas it comes from a rich family and follower from the very good mannerss…). Councils of preparing in translation of the female language, all these people quickly will take an important place in the life of the young man and will help it to become a better man and who will be able to touch the heart of Saori by his tenderness and his honesty.

Televised series

The series contains many references and homages to the culture otaku . The credits of introduction were created by the studios Gonzo.

It is made much use of the ASCII Art on the forum, but also at the time of the saynètes of transition. The music of the first episode is Mr. Roboto by Styx. The music of the following credits will be " Twilight" , by the group of Rock of the years 1970 Electric Light Orchestrated, which is also used in the credits of Daicon IV . The credits of end are " Sekai-wa sore-o have-to yobundaze" (世界はそれを愛と呼ぶんだぜ) by Sambo Master

Feature film

The main actors of the feature film are Takayuki Yamada and Miki Nakatani. This realization was a large success with the Box-office and made it possible to return the history of popular Densha Otoko to Japan. With Tokyo, whoever claimed to be a otaku received a reduction voucher on the price of a place.

Atsushi Itō, which plays Densha Otoko in the televised series, makes an appearance in film (in the role of another character however). Takayuki Yamada also appears (Caméo) in the 1st episode of the televised series, when the drunk man is made control.

The manga

The history is the four different adaptation object in Manga :

a seinen in three volumes by Hidenori Hara, published by Shogakukan, distributed in French by Kurokawa, third and the last divides into volumes appeared the 6/14/2007.
another seinen in three volumes by Wataru Watanabe, published by Akita Shoten, the 3 volumes translated at Taifu Comics under the title the Boy of the train .
