Denim

The denim sometimes called jean is the fabric used in particular for the clothes industry of the Blue-jeans. It is a fabric of Coton to armor of serge. Originally, this very solid fabric was woven with Nimes by the Famille Andre, from where his name (denim = of Nimes).

Very tight weaving is manufactured starting from a chain dyes in Bleu in the beginning and of a unbleached screen or Blanche. The blue of the chain came from a Teinture known as it blu di genova (Italian: blue of Genoa) from where the name blue jean by deformation of the word to the pronunciation. This blue is obtained thanks to two plants the Indigotier or the Pastel of the dyers.

The modern denims are coloured of all the colors even if blue and the Noir remain more traditional colors considered.

Originally, this fabric appears with Genoa in 1567 where it is used with the clothes industry of the pants sailors.
