The Democratic party (in Polish, Partia Demokratyczna , PD, also demokraci.pl ) is a Political party Polish, founded on February 27th, 2005 starting from former members of the Alliance left Democrat (SLD) and other centrist parties like the Union for Freedom (UW).
Principal founders: Władysław Frasyniuk, Jerzy Hausner, Tadeusz Mazowiecki and Janusz Steinhoff.
Marek Belka, Prime Minister, former member of the SLD, joined it in May 2005.
It is currently directed by Janusz Onyszkiewicz.
