Demography of High-Normandy

At January 1st 2006, the number of inhabitants of the area of High-Normandy was estimated at 1  811  000 inhabitants (against 1  805  955 in 2005), is nearly 3% of the population of the Metropolitan France. The demographic growth rate of the area is not very important (+ 0,24% per annum since 1999). It is only due to the natural balance (+ 0,43% per annum), migratory balance being negative (- 0,18% annually).

The fruitfulness of the women of the area is a little higher than that of the whole of the Metropolitan France. The department of the Eure is characterized by a birthrate definitely higher than the French average.

Foreign immigration
