Sanitary situation

The medical network of the country is of quality poor and lost most of its credibility near the population. The number of deaths at the hospital is high. In addition there does not exist system of Social security to guarantee the access to the care of poorest. Humanitarian organizations as Doctors without borders are thus engaged in action permanent of medical help.

With a rate of infection with the HIV estimated at 4,2% of the population (8,5% with Ouagadougou), Burkina belongs to the five countries of West Africa the most touched by the AIDS. L also forms part of the “méningée belt” which extends from the Ethiopia to the Senegal. Thus the AIDS, the Paludism and the Méningite are the greatest causes of mortality, with the Diarrhée S, the Tétanos and the Rougeole in the children.
