Democratic league/Movement for the party of work

The democratic League/Mouvement for the party of work (LD/MPT) is a political party Senegalese, of which the leader is Abdoulaye Bathily, professor d' Université.

History

Resulting from the African Left independence (FEEDS), the LD/MPT is officially recognized on July 9th 1981, when the country reaches the integral Multipartisme.

It takes part in the legislative elections of 1998 and obtains three seats with the National Assembly.

With the legislative elections of 2001, it belonged to the Coalition Sopi which collected 931.617 votes, that is to say 49,6%, and obtained 89 of the 120 seats which account then the National Assembly.

At the time of the presidential election of 2007 which saw the victory of Abdoulaye Wade, Abdoulaye Bathily collected 75.797 votes, that is to say 2,21%.

The LD/MPT is one of the parties having chosen the Boycott at the time of the legislative elections of 2007.

Orientation

It is a left party of , Communiste in the beginning, but which is not regarded any more as such today.

The League arises itself as a “party of mass which takes as a starting point the Marxism-Leninism, socialism and the social democracy, freedom, progress, social justice and peace”.

Symbols

Its color is the red. Its flag also red, is struck emblem in black representing a surmounted hammer and an axe of a black star.

Organization

The seat of the party is with Dakar.

It publishes a periodical, Faggaru .
