Democratic gathering (Cyprus)

The democratic Gathering (in Greek, Δημοκρατικός Συναγερμός, shortened in ΔΗ.ΣΥ. /DISY) is a Cypriot Political party , preserving, founded in 1976, member of the European Popular party. With the international level, he is member of the international democratic Union.

Its leader is currently Nikos Anastasiadhis (or Anastasiades).

It is the 2nd party in the Room of the representatives with 19 deputies out of 59 (34% the May 27th 2002). With the the European Parliament, it obtained the best score with 28,2% of the voices and two appointed. It counts 35.000 members.

It supported the plan of Kofi Annan on the reunification of Cyprus in 2004 and expelled two deputies who opposed it and who joined the European Parti lately created in 2005.

Glafkos Klerides, founder of the DISY and honorary president was elected President of the Republic in 1993 and was re-elected in 1998.

Its vice-president is Averof Neophytou and its managing director is George Liveras.
