Democratic defense
democratic Défense was one of the many organizations of opposition to the Dictature of the colonels (1967 - 1974) in Greece.
The group resulted from the political Circle of Research " Alexandros Papanastasiou" founded in 1965 and of which the goal was in the beginning to propose solutions with the socio-economic problems of Greece.
Without true leader at the beginning, the members chose, after several waves of arrests of militants, for leader symbolic system Georges Iordanidis, general in retirement. At the origin of attacks against companies supporting the junta economically, the organization was dismantled and its frameworks condemned to heavy sorrows of imprisonment in 1970.
democratic Défense counted in particular among its members Costas Simitis, future Prime Minister and Níkos Konstantópoulos, future president of the left party Synaspismós .
