The False-friend S in English are words of the English language which recall of them others in the French language but that one should not confuse with the latter. Their existence is seldom due randomly, a common etymology or trans-Manche loans are generally the reason. The false-friends are doubly treacherous besides if it is known that it is their principal meaning which diverges between English and French, because these words often have common secondary meanings. For example, the word “English hiring” means “place” or “position”, but a little complete dictionaries English add that this word can have the direction of “leasing”, which is precisely synonymous because of renting something (the hiring).
