Demak is a provincial town Indonesia of Java Centers. One finds there the oldest mosque of Java, built in 1479.
The Javanese tradition sees in the old Moslem kingdom of Demak the successor of the Hindu-Buddhist kingdom of Majapahit in the east of Java.
Its Trenggana successor undertakes the expansion of the kingdom towards the east and the west of the Pesisir . In the east, Demak conquers in 1527 Tuban, the large port of Majapahit, and Kediri, old vassal of Majapahit which seems to have taken the control of the territory. However Blambangan to the extreme is of Java escapes control from Demak. In the west, Demak takes Cirebon, already Moslem woman, under her protection and conquers in 1526 Banten, a port of the kingdom hindouist Sunda are born from Pajajaran.
The expansion of Demak supports the rise of Islam on the Pesisir .
