The Cookies Delacre are a Public limit company of Belgian right, subsidiary of the British group United Cookies, number 2 European of the market of cookies and snack bars.
History
In 1870, Charles Delacre, a pharmacist of Brussels decided to sell Chocolat, which was then regarded as a strengthening drug. Success allowed to him to open a shop especially dedicated to the chocolate, adjacent with its pharmacy, and in 1873, a new factory.It is as in 1873 as it deposited the Delacre mark as a manufacturer of chocolate bar. The quality of these chocolates enabled him to be recognized supplier of the Royal Maison of Belgium.
In 1891, Charles Delacre opens a factory with Vilvorde, and develops with Masters Pâtissier fine cookies coated with a rich person chocolate adapted to the accompaniment of the The or popularized Café.
In 1906, Charles Delacre transmits the company to his/her Pierre son, who continued the development of the company by selecting best the raw materials. Number of cookies now known date from first half of the XXe century, like the " Russe" cigarette; , " Marquisette" , " Biarritz" or more recently the " Délichoc".
During second half of the XXe century, Cookies Delacre opens the factories of Lambermont and Nieppe, firm that of Vilvorde, passes under the control of Campbell Soup Company then United Cookies in 1998.
Delacre today
Cookies Delacre is today a cookie mark specialized for adults, subsidiary of United Cookies. Its head office is established in area of Brussels with Groot-Bijgaarden, and two production sites of roughly 300 people each one are with Lambermont in Belgium and Nieppe in France.
The company is certified ISO 9001, ISO 9002 and HACCP.
The production is exported in the whole of the European Union, with the the United States and the Canada. Its sales turnover in 2005 represented 150.354.000 € including 76% with export.
