Defense policy

The defense policy of a State is the whole of the major options and principles political, strategic and soldiers whom it defines and adopts in order to ensure its defense :

  • the nature of its International relations and in particular its contribution to alliances, agreements of defense, agreement of military cooperation, agreements of Control of the armaments…
  • assumptions of use of its Armed forces
  • missions of the armed forces
  • the military capacities which result from this
  • the principles from organization of defense and of the administrations which contribute to it
  • the policy of armament and the industrial strategy
  • the use of human resources
  • the relations between the armies and the nation

Its development makes a broad place with the Prospective in Géopolitique, Démographie, economy, in the scientific disciplines and techniques in order to estimate the evolution of the threats, of the forces and weaknesses of the Nation and opportunities which are offered to it.

In the democratic countries, it is the subject sometimes the of a public communication in the form of a “White paper” ( White Paper , in English).
