Mérida (Latin: Emerita Augusta ) is a town of Spain, it is the capital of the Estrémadure. It counts 60.000 inhabitants.
The city is a very important tourist place and it is possible to visit many Roman vestiges and museums devoted to the Roman occupation.
The archaeological whole of Mérida was registered with the inheritance of UNESCO in 1993.
