Defenders , secret political association

The purpose of it was formed in Ireland after the victory of Boyne (1690), gained by Guillaume III of Orange, was to defend the oppressed Catholics. She was opposed to the faction of the Orangiste S. She played a great part in risings of 1798 and 1803.
