Defender TIE

The Defender TIE, hunter of the Galactic Empire, is similar to the Chasseur TIE.

History

The TIE Defender was conceived little before the battle of Endor, in the continuity of TIE Avancé S. Just like this last, it acted of a hunter using either the number but well equipment of quality to come to end from its enemies. Its single design, with three double-wings, made it easily recognizable and all the more fears by the pilots of Alliance.

It had a considerable armament, with four laser guns SFS L-s9.3, two guns with ions NK3 supported by two launchers of missiles/torpedes M-G-2. In addition, the vessel was protected much more than the standard Chasseur TIE from the Fleet, since it had two generators of deflecting shields Novaldex, which ensured the survival of the hunter and its pilot, with inter alia an ejector seat, rare thing in imperial Hunting. Lastly, so that it can only operate in any sector, one equipped it with a hyperpropulsor ND9, who made that it did not have anything any more to envy the best hunters of the Rebellion.

However, the enormous cost of this apparatus (300.000 appropriations, is five times that of a hunter TIE) limited its production largely; in addition its considerable armament and its protections were not with the taste of all the imperial officers who had learned how to support the mass. It was reserved for some squadrons of elite, but finally little used in the civil war.

One can quote his big role in the fight against the Lord High Admiral Zaarin, traitor with the Empire, and which leads by the fall of the Lord High Admiral.
