The decretum laudis (or decree of praise) is the official means by which the the Holy See concedes at the institutes of consecrated lives and the apostolic companies of life the ecclesiastical character of institute of pontifical right

For the creation of a new religious community, it is necessary to the beginning to obtain the the Nile obstat of the proper ecclesiastical authority (the Congrégation for the institutes of consecrated life and the companies of apostolic life) and the approval of ordinary of the place (i.e., the bishop of the Diocèse). The congregation is then known as of right diocesan .

When the congregation took importance, and that one can note spiritual and apostolic maturity of it, it can be approved formally by Sovereign pontiff, who then transforms it into congregation of pontifical right . It then becomes directly and exclusively prone to the authority of the Holy See.

In general, follow temporary approval then final approval.
