Decree against the images
The idea of a visual representation of God is regarded as idolatry by the Moslems, like by the two other religions monotheists. For this reason, the Caliphs carried out many concrete actions against the images. Among those, in July 721, a few years before the beginning of the Byzantine Iconoclasme , the Caliph Yazid II (687 - 724) promulgates a Fatwa against the images.
