Declaratory Act
The Declaratory Act is a law of the English Parlement enacted in 1766 in order to restore the order in the 13 colonies American after the violences caused by the Stamp Act, which had been repealed because of the protests of the colonists and the English craftsmen, struck by the boycott of their goods. The change of Prime Minister also explains this abrogation: Charles Watson-Wentworth was indeed more favorable to the American colonists. He invited even Benjamin Franklin to be expressed before the English Parliament in connection with the taxes.
The Declaratory Act affirms that the Parliament has all to be able to impose its laws on the American colonies and the population.
