Full text of the first call sent by the General secretary of the Face of National Release to the Algerian people on November 1st 1954 POPULATE ALGERIAN, MILITANTS OF THE NATIONAL CAUSE,

With you who have to judge us (the first generally, seconds particularly), our concern by diffusing the present proclamation is to inform you on the major reasons who pushed us to act by exposing you our program, the direction of our action, the cogency of our sights of which the goal remains national independence within the North-African framework. Our desire also is to avoid you the confusion which could maintain the véreux imperialism and its administrative officers and other politicailleurs.

We consider before very that afterwards decades of fight, the national movement reached its phase of realization. Indeed, the goal of a revolutionary movement being to create all the conditions of an action liberator, we estimate that, under his internal aspects, the people are plain behind the watchword of independence and action and, under the appearances, the mood of d3etente is favorable for the payment of the minor problems, of which ours, with especially the diplomatic support of our brothers arabo-Moslems. The events of Morocco and Tunisia are on this subject significant and deeply mark the process of the liberation struggle of North Africa. ہ to note in this field that we have since strong a long time be the precursors of the unit in the action, unfortunately ever realized between the three countries.

Today, all and sundry are committed resolutely in this way, and, relegated us to the back, we undergo the fate of those which are exceeded. Thus our national movement, embanked by years of opposition to progress and routine, badly directed, deprived of the essential support of the popular opinion, exceeded by the events, disaggregates gradually with the great satisfaction of the colonialism which believes to have gained the greatest victory of its fight against the Algerian avant-garde.

The SERIOUS HOUR EAST!

In front of this situation which is likely to become irrevocable, a team of young persons in charge and militants conscious, rejoining around it the majorities of the still healthy and decided elements, at the proper time judged to leave the national movement the dead end where the fights of people and influence drove back, to launch it to the sides of the Moroccan and Tunisian brothers in the true revolutionary fight.

We hold for this purpose specifying that we are independent of the two clans which dispute the capacity. Placing the national interest above all the petty and erroneous considerations people and prestige, in accordance with the revolutionary principles, our action is directed only against colonialism, alone enemy and blind man, who always refused to grant least freedom by means of peaceful fight.

It is there, we think, of the sufficient reasons which make that our movement of restoration arises under the label of FACE OF NATIONAL LIBةRATION, thus emerging from all possible compromisings and offering the possibility to all the Algerian patriots of all the social layers, of all the purely Algerian parties and movements, to be integrated in the liberation struggle without any other consideration.

To specify, we recall hereafter, the broad outlines of our political program:

GOAL: National independence by:

Restoration of the sovereign, democratic and social state Algerian within the framework of the Islamic principles.

The respect of all fundamental freedoms without reference of races and confessions.

INTERIOR OBJECTIVES:

• political Cleansing by the handing-over of the revolutionary national movement in its true way and by the destruction of all the vestiges of corruption and reformism, causes our current regression.

• Gathering and organization of all healthy energies of the Algerian people for the liquidation of the colonial system.

EXTERNAL OBJECTIVES:

• Internationalization of the Algerian problem.

• Realization of the North-African Unit within the natural framework arabo-Moslem.

• Within the framework of the charter of the United Nations, assertion of our sympathy with regard to all nations which would support our action liberator.

MEANS OF FIGHT:

In accordance with the revolutionary principles and accounts held of the situations interior and external, the continuation of the fight by all the means until the realization of our goal.

To arrive for this purpose, the Face of national release will have two tasks essential to carry out face and simultaneously: an interior action so much on the political plan than in the field of the clean action, and an external action in order to make Algerian problem a reality for the whole world with the support of all our natural allies.

It is there a crushing task which requires the mobilization of all energies and all the national resources. It is true, the fight will be long but the exit is certain.

Lastly, in order to avoid to them false interpretations and the subterfuges, to prove our desire of peace, to limit the losses in lives human and the bloodsheds, we advance a honourable platform of discussion to the French authorities if these last are animated in good faith and once and for all recognize with the people that they subjugate the right to have themselves.

Recognition of Algerian nationality by an official declaration abrogeant the edicts, decrees and laws making of Algeria a French ground in refusal of the history, geography, language, religion and manners of the Algerian people.

The opening of the negotiations with the spokesperson authorized of the Algerian people on the basis of recognition of sovereignty Algerian, one and indivisible.

The creation of a climate of trust by the release of all the political prisoners, the lifting of all the emergency regulations and the stop of any continuation against the fighting forces.

N THE OTHER HAND:

The French, cultural and economic interests, honestly acquired, will be respected as well as the people and the families.

All French wishing to remain in Algeria will have the choice between their nationality and will be of this fact considered as foreigners with respect to the laws in force or will choose Algerian nationality and, in this case, will be regarded as such in rights and duties.

The bonds between France and Algeria will be defined and will be the agreement object between the two powers on the basis of of the equality and respect of each one.

Algerian! we invite you to contemplate our charter above. Your duty is of you to associate with it to save our country and to return its freedom to him; the Face of national release is your face, its victory is holds it.

As for us, determined to continue the fight, sure your anti-impérialistes feelings, we give best ourselves to the fatherland.
