Decision-making aid

The decision-making aid multicriterion constitutes a branch of major study of the Operations research implying several schools of thought, mainly American with work of Thomas L. Saaty and European with those of Bernard Roy and the LAMSADE (Analysis laboratory and Modeling of Systems for the Decision-making aid).

They are methods and calculations allowing for choice of the best solution or the optimal solution among a whole whole of solutions, the alternative of the type OUI-NON being only one particular case of the general case.

An abuse current language consists to confuse it with the decisional Informatique, dedicated to the exploitation of Donnée S (query/reporting and Data mining, mainly) intended for the development of multilevel syntheses (in English " business intelligence" , which is translated in fact by information of the businesses).

The tools of assistance to the Décision make it possible to bring relevant answers to various problems implementing several possible choices (establishment of industrial sites, strategy of depollution of a lake, constitution of wallets of values, etc), to help with the diagnosis and, more generally, to facilitate the Decision making strategic or operational in vague and/or dubious environment.
