The death metal (DM) is a sub-genus heavy metal which emerged starting from the Thrash metal in the beginning of the Années 1980.
Characteristics
The death metal being a varied kind of music, the following characteristics will not apply inevitably to all the artists or albums.
Among the commonly recognized characteristics of the kind, one can quote generally violent or dark words of nature which serve as dead like metaphor Nihilist (even if, more recently, words more centered on the Philosophie, like those of the group
Death, also became popular), of the chromatic progressions
and a structure of narrative song (presented as a history) which uses a continual development of topics and reasons rather than a cycle of verses and refrains. The kind often is identified thanks to its Guitare S rhythmic granted low (often in D), of the fast percussions with a frequent use of the double gross case, and a dynamic intensity. The
happy Blast S are often used to add with the ferocity of the music. The vocal techniques used are almost always serious gutturaux songs called
Grunt S, growls, or death growl. This kind of song is created by the use of the digestive Tract and the throat, contrary to the traditional songs which disadvise this technique. Some regard these songs as a style of Chant diphonic. Because of the similarity of this technique with that of the Macaroon character the glouton (" Cookie Monster" in English) in Sesame street, this style of song is thus sometimes called way parodique" Cookie Monster vocals" in the Anglo-Saxon countries (literally " vocal technique of Cookie Monster").

Necrophagist,
Psycroptic,
Trepalium, Daath,
Spawn off Possession,

See also: Brutal death metal
Brutal the death metal emerged by mixing certain aspects of the structures of the Grindcore with the death metal. This kind tends to be very technical and very rapid, the principal difference between brutal the death metal and the death metal is undoubtedly its speed of execution, often between 230 and 250 bpm (Beat Per Minutes). Brutal the death metal is associated with groups like Cannibal Corpse, Krisiun, Disgorge, Devourment, Nile, Origin, Vital Remains, Dying Fetus, Gorguts and Suffocation, this last being credited by several to be the founder of this sub-genus. One of the characteristics first of brutal the death metal is the style of Grunt used which is often very serious. The words are generally connected to the gore and are sung in a slow and jerked way. The fronts of guitar are generally serious and fast, often with harmonic piercing. The partitions of battery generally are very varied in style, of the battery of slow environment to the happy blast, as in the grindcore. The production of the majority of the albums of brutal death metal generally gives a very dense sound. Groups like the New Yorkeans Suffocation or Floridiens Deicide can be regarded as at the origin of this style.
Deathgrind

is a mixture of the intensity, speed and traditional duration of the pieces of grindcore with technicality of the composition of death metal, while remaining different from brutal the death metal.
The pieces of deathgrind are dicernable traditional piece of death metal by the scarcity of the solos of guitar, by the duration of the titles (generally in 3 minute old lower part). The deathgrind also differs from the grindcore by the substancielle absence of the influence of the hardcore in the compositions.
Groups like Blood Duster, Cephalic Carnage or Dying Fetus represent this sub-genus well.
Death/doom
The death/doom is a mixture of the elements of the death metal, in particular the
Grunt associated with the kind, and with the slowness of the
Doom metal. Many off regards the group
Cathedral as the pioneer of the sub-genus with his album
Forest Equilibrium . Generally, the three groups recognized to have made evolve/move the sub-genus are My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, and
Anathema (on their the first two albums,
Serenades and
The Silent Enigma ).
Origin of the term death metal
The origin of the term
death metal is relatively fuzzy. There are several groups or individuals to whom it first use of the term is allotted. The group
Death left a demonstration in 1984 called
Death by Metal - the name of the group perhaps also inspired the name of the movement. Also left in 1984, the demonstration of Possessed simply called
Death Metal . In the United Kingdom, the group of
Thrash metal Onslaught had a song on their first album entitled " Death Metal". Because of the repeated use of this term, a compilation left in 1984 called
Death Metal gathered groups like
Helloween or Hellhammer.
