Death (Disc-world)

Appearance

Death is represented (Death is a male necessary) by a Squelette of two meters ten top vêtu of a woven dress of black. Two blue gleams blaze in its orbits. It has a cavernous voice which seems to have faculty to print itself directly in the brain without passing by the ears. Note: the voice of Dead (or its substitute of the moment) is written in small capital letters. Its false is its principal work tools although it also has a sword of which the use is reserved on special occasionss (death of kings, apocalypse, etc).

Of course, this representation of dead does not correspond inevitably to the culture or the belief of the inhabitants of the Disc. It is however in this way which Death appears with the eyes of late even if some are surprised not to deal with giant dragon or Valkyrie S little vêtues.

Death does not appear only with the eyes of late, the magi, the witches and the cat S can also see it and speak to him. It is invisible only because normal people refuse to believe their eyes when they see it. Also, in the moments when its presence is awaited, everyone can see it. Personality

Contrary to an false idea that it is easy to be done, Death is not the malicious of the history. Moreover it does not kill, it is satisfied to detach the heart of the body once the dead things. Although to include/understand the behavior of such a character is difficult, Death seems fascinated by the life and the human ones in particular. He is regarded besides as an enemy by the Contrôleurs of reality.

Death “lives” in an alternative plan of reality where time does not pass and where the pallet of the colors goes overall from the black to the black. It created for itself an anthropomorphic environment: it built there its house, its corn field, its bees… Its house was created according to observation on the Disc-World, although it did not succeed in including/understanding the function of certain objects (theinking one is cut in the wood of the office)

Companions of Death

Many characters revolve around the Dead one:

Albert (of his true name Alberto Malik) is the servant of Death, he deals mainly with his house. He was formerly the founder of the Invisible Université and one of the most powerful magi. As there remain to him only a few days to be lived, he passed a market with Death in order to remain in the field of this last since time does not pass there.
Ysabell is the adopted girl of Death. This one saved it when it was small. It became then duchess of Sto Helit.
Mortimer (known as Morty) was the apprentice of Death, he became duke of Sto Helit and married Ysabell in Mortimer .
Suzanne Sto Hélit, little girl of Dead i.e. the girl of Ysabell and Morty. She is the main character of Accros of the rock .
Rat poison. This small skeleton of Rongeur occupies the same job as Death but for the Rat S and comparable (it couine in small capital letters). With the Death-With-Chips, they are only known distinct deaths. Their appearance goes back to the Reaper .
War, Famine and Stench forms with Death the group of the four riders of the Apocralypse , kind of Apocalypse apocryphal book. The 5th Ronnie rider (actually known under the name of Chaos) left the group before it becomes famous.
Bigadin, the mounting of Death. It is a Cheval made flesh and of blood, because osseous mountings and the blazing horses, although strongly theatrical, have too many disadvantages. Death likes to do its work seriously, without fuss. Let us announce in the passing that marshal-shoeing it of Bigadin is Jason Ogg, Forgeron Royaume of Lancre and wire of Nounou Ogg.

Death out of Annals of the Disc-world

Death makes also a short appearance in Johnny and deaths , other delivers Terry Pratchett except Disc-world as in Of goods predict (coécrit with Neil Gaiman).

The British actor Christopher Lee lent his voice with Mort in the cartoon films drawn from the novels of Terry Pratchett.
