De Volkskrant ( the newspaper of the people ) is a Quotidien morning Dutch.
History
De Volkskrant was founded in 1919 but it became daily morning in 1921. In the beginning, it was a newspaper Catholique near to the catholic party of the people ( Katholieke Volkspartij ). The daily newspaper ceased existing during the German occupation. With its recasting in 1945, its seat was moved of Wood-the-Duke in Amsterdam. In the years 1960, the daily newspaper becomes a daily newspaper of left. Its current orientation is described as center left.This title belongs today to the group of éditon PCM Uitgevers N.V which has also the titles Algemeen Dagblad, NRC Handelsblad nrc.next and Trouw.
In 2006, Volkskrant launched Volkskrant Banen ('Volkskrant employment), a free weekly newspaper with diffusion by subscription and addressing itself to the graduates. This newspaper contains job offers and articles on the management of its career.
The August 23rd 2006, at the time of its 25.000e edition, the newspaper left an special edition to the format compressed tablet on the history and the future the newspaper, with much of articles of readers. Volkskrant also announced the October 2nd 2006 qu ' it was going soon to launch a free newspaper and of quality bound for a younger assistantship which is not accustomed to reading the daily press.
In terms of diffusion, it is the third daily newspaper of the Netherlands, after De Telegraaf and Algemeen Dagblad.
