De Tomaso

De Tomaso is an Italian company of construction of cars. It was founded by Argentinian the Alejandro De Tomaso (1928 - 2003) with Modena in 1959.

In the beginning, De Tomaso produces various prototypes of racing racing cars, including a car of Formule 1 for the team of Frank Williams in 1970.

Sporting cars

The first model De Tomaso intended for the road was the Vallelunga , presented in 1963. This impressive sporting car was equipped with an engine Ford Cortina of 78 kw and it had a maximum speed of 215 km/h. It comprised an aluminum frame, which became then the technological mark of Tomaso and a body out of glass fibers.

The second model was the Mangusta , drawn by Giorgietto Giugiaro and produced of 1968 to 1970. This car is equipped with V8 Ford of 4.7 L. The name of this model was taken again of 2000 to 2000 when the Concept because De Tomaso Bigua became the Qvale Mangusta , after an argument between Tomaso and its partner Qvale.

The logo of the mark, representing the sign of the Egyptian goddess Isis, pays homage to the woman of Alejandro De Tomaso, Isabella. One also advances that it would come from the sign of which it marked its cows in its old ranch in the United States.

The mark produced end of the year 90 a model named GuarĂ  .
