De Standaard (in French: the standard) is a Dutch-speaking Belgian daily newspaper created in 1918.

A long time with strong catholic tendency, the newspaper became today more neutral and is a true European reference.
History
Created with Antwerp in 1918, the newspaper actively supports the Flemish Mouvement and the Parti Flemish social-Christian. With strong Catholic influence, its slogan was of 1918 with 1999 “ Alles voor Vlaanderen, Vlaanderen voor Christus ” ( Tout for the Flanders, Flanders for Christ ).
