De Lijn
De Lijn is the public company of transport of the Flemish Région (Belgium). Its complete Dutch name is Vlaamse Vervoermaatschappij " De Lijn" . Literal translation: Flemish company of " transport; Ligne".
History
De Lijn was creates in 1991, during the regionalization of local transport. It results from the cutting of SNCV in two companies, one Flemish (De Lijn) and the other Walloon one (Walloon regional Société of transport, using sign tce).
During its creation, De Lijn absorbed the public companies of urban transport of Antwerp (MIVA) and of Ghent (MIVG).
Network
The network " De Lijn" is primarily composed of Autobus, but it also exploits lines of Tramway S on the Belgian side, with Ghent (four lines of tram) and with Antwerp (eleven lines of tram, with certain sections exploited in pre-subway on their underground course).
