De Gooyer

De Gooyer is the name of a Moulin to gallery located at Amsterdam between the Sarphatistraat and the Singelgracht on the quay Funen .

It is the last Moulin survivor of a great group of mills with Blé which were between the XVII|17 century and end of the XIX|19 century on the ramparts external of Singelgracht. The last were demolished towards 1900, only De Gooyer remained. The geographical location of the mills very beneficial, was at that time located at the periphery of the Ville, they profited from sufficient Vent.

The mill of origin appeared already with the XVI|16 century. After destruction and some displacements, it was finally rebuilt in 1725 with the current site of the barracks Orange Nassau. Finally, in 1814, the mill is again moved and rebuilt with the quay of Funen on the foot out of stone of a Water mill destroys in 1812.

The mill lost its wings during a TempĂȘte the November 13rd 1972. Years later, those were replaced at the time of a restoration.

The mill is property of the town of Amsterdam and is not worth visiting. The scale of the mill is of 26,6  Mr.

An additional building of the mill, old house of baths, shelters the Brasserie Het IJ .

The mill in addition owes its name with the fact that one has this one a unspoilable view on the landscape of the named area Het Gooi .
