David Rosenmann-Taub

David Rosenmann-Taub (born the May 3rd 1927 with Santiago de Chile), of Chilean origin, is poet, musician and draftsman.

Biography

Its early talent for the literature and the music was recognized and encouraged very early by his/her father, polyglot, and his mother, pianist virtuoso. It started to teach him the piano when he was two years old, and to nine years, he gave already lessons to pupils. He put himself very young person to write poetry: with fourteen years, its first book, a long poem entitled " El Adolescente" , was published in a literary review.

It finished its studies with the Université of Chile in 1948. This even year it received the price of the Trade union of the Writers for his first deliver poetry, " Cortejo there Epinicio". The book receives a reception enthusiastic of the press, and in particular a very eulogistic article of Alone (Hernán Díaz Arrieta), the literary critic most famous of the time in Chile. Then, in the thirty years space, Rosenmann-Taub published more than ten books of poetry, among which " Los Surcos Inundados" (Flooded Furrows), " Enredadera del Júbilo" (The Vine of Joy), " Los Despojos del Sol" (Skins of the Sun), and " El Cielo in Fuente" (Sky in the Fountain). " Los Surcos Inundados" the Municipal Price of Poetry obtained, the equivalent in Chile of the Goncourt Price. Its poetry caused the admiration of authors as various as Witold Gombrowicz, Victoria Ocampo, and Francis de Miomandre.

In 1976, he undertook to travel in Latin America, Europe and in the United States, where it gave conferences on poetry, the music, and esthetics. He was established in the United States in 1985. Since 2002 its works were published again in Chile, jointly with republications of its former writings. Armando Uribe Arce, prize winner recent of the Chilean National Price of Literature, qualified Rosenmann-Taub of " the most important poet living and deepest of all the language espagnole."
