David Ginola

David Ginola (born the January 25th 1967 with Gassin) is international French of Football French which completed its career of professional player in 2002 and began a career from actor.

Biography

King in club…

Originating in Gassin, David Ginola, 1m85 for 83 kg, appears at the time of its passages to the Racing and Brest, but it is with the Paris Saint-Germain that it really appears with the general public. Spectacular and elegant left winger, it levels the Park of the Princes of his directed controls and his overflows. Elected official better player of the championship of France at the conclusion of the season 1993-1994, Ginola also appears on the international scene at the time of the European epopees of the PSG. Particularly fond of delicacies of Spanish football, it delivers in particular matches of anthology to eliminate the Real Madrid twice (in 1993 and 1994) then FC Barcelona in 1995. That is worth to him to be called " El Magnifico" by the Spanish press.

At one period when football does not have yet in France the media repercussion of after-1998, Ginola is one of the rare high-speed motorboats of French football (with Eric Cantona and Jean-Pierre Papin) and it is not rare to see it appearing in variety programmes on television, publicities, or even on podiums of fashion shows.

… cursed in selection

But if Ginola shines in its club, he does not manage to be essential in team of France. Called first once by Michel Platini at the end of 1990, it makes its second appearance with the Blue ones only with the arrival of Gerard Houllier in August 1992. It takes part thus in the eliminating heats for the World Cup 1994. Irregularly titular (that of which he will complain by voice about press) Ginola returns only in second half-time of the famous match France- Bulgaria of November 1993. Whereas France holds the tie synonymous with qualification, Ginola delivers a center missed on the right-sided which gives again the ball with Bulgarian at a few seconds of the end of the match and makes it possible to start a counter-attack on the two ways which shows a goal and thus by the elimination of France. Indicated like person in charge of the defeat by Gerard Houllier, Ginola becomes also the Turkish head preferred of the French stages.

The arrival of the new French selector Aimé Jacquet does not change the situation of Ginola, regularly called in selection, but often confined in a role of substitute of luxury. If nobody disputes technical qualities of Ginola, one reproaches him a certain individualism on and out of the ground, a difficulty of melting itself in the collective. In addition to the technical reasons and tactics advanced to explain the absence of Ginola at the Blue ones, one will also speak about an enmity in his connection of key players such as Didier Deschamps and Marcel Desailly. Wounded with the thigh a few days before the Romania-France of decisive October 1995 for the qualification with Euro 96, Ginola misses the match which is for much the birth certificate of a group promised with a gilded future. Ginola will be called never again in team of France. This setting with the variation of most media of the French players will sucitera a time a sharp polemic, polemizes gradually extinct by the good performances of Blue in the absence of the old Parisian attacker.

The English adventure

At the summer 1995, Ginola leaves Paris Saint-Germain. Announced with FC Barcelona, Ginola signs with the general surprise in the less crested club of Newcastle in England and in the tread disputes with its agent Dominique Rocheteau (which will stop the trade of it). Under the orders of Kevin Keegan, Ginola is not long in becoming the principal attraction of the English championship, and steals almost the high-speed motorboat to Cantona, the other Frenchie of England. Besides at semi-season, Newcastle seems to have the championship firmly in hand… but collapses in the last straight line before yielding vis-a-vis the return Manchester United. Extremely of this first remarkable season, Ginola begins to hope for a team return of France for the Euro 1996 disputed in England. In vain. The continuation of the events is less brilliant for Ginola. Outgoing Keegan, Ginola must learn how to compose with a new trainer (Kenny Dalglish), with whom the power is on only with difficulty.

In 1997, Ginola signs for the Londoniens of Tottenham a team of the " belly mou" championship, which contributes to make it fall into a certain anonymity, in spite of individual performances of great quality and particularly spectacular goals. In 1999, its level of play is however rewarded by a double title for better player for the year in England. One allotted by the specialized press, the other by its pars. For Ginola, it is the apotheosis, before the decline. The following season, it is scrambled with its trainer George Graham (who reproaches him in particular superfluous kilos), which causes its departure for Birmingham and the club of Aston Villa. After two seasons without much relief, then a short passage to Everton, Ginola is found without club. Vague contacts are then tied with OGC Nice for a return in France, but it finally decides to put a term at its career.

It will follow a training of actor then. It obtains its first role in Mr. Firecul , a film of Jade Carmen left in 2004, then a small role in Last Drop , film of war of Colin Teague. It also did one of the French voice in cartoon film Le Monde de Nemo (2003).
