Career
David Eugene Edwards started his career at the end of the Eighties with the group The Denver Gentlemen at the side of Slim Cessna. Edwards left the group about 1992 to be devoted to its new formation of then, 16 Horsepower which it founded with the French bass player Pascal Humbert met with Los Angeles. They leave for Denver, birthplace of Edwards, and are joined by Jean-Yves Tola, a friend beater of Humbert. 16 Horsepower will know an increasing success of 1995 until the end of the group in 2005, due to conflicts from point of view.Edwards in parallel had developed a more personal and experimental project from a musical point of view with its other group Woven Hand, founded at the end of 2000. After the separation of 16 Horsepower, David Eugene Edwards is devoted exclusively to Woven Hand. Its music, being included with difficulty in a well defined category, is a complex mixes Gothic music rock'n'roll, experimental, folk and country whose topics of predilection are often in relation to the faith, the redemption, mysticism and the Christian religion. David Eugene Edwards, grandson of Pasteur nazaréen who took it along with him on the roads of Colorado as of his more young age, is indeed very believing. He thus likes to give of him the image of a furrowing preacher, bible with the hand, the west of the United States of time formerly. However, its mystical inspiration stops with its art and its personal life, it does not practice proselytism on scene.
It takes an active part also in collaborations with the choreographer of contemporary dance Wim Vandekeybus and its company Ultima Vez by composing the music of its spectacles. In 2005, Edwards appeared in film of Andrew Douglas, Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus , a painting of the contemporary American South.
