David Drake

David Drake (born 24 constant September 1945) is an author of Science-fiction and fantasy. War veteran of Vietnam, former lawyer, former bus driver, and now author of science fiction, David Drake wrote many books with a military topic. He was graduate university of Iowa, major in the history (with the honors) and in Latin. Its studies at the school of right of Duke University were stopped during two years by U.S. Army, where it was used as interpreter with the 11th armor-plated cavalry to Vietnam and in Kampuchea. Drake has a wife, a son, and various pet.

It is one of the principal authors of the military sub-kind of the science fiction. In addition to its own work, it often provides a military prospect to much for projects of collaboration of writing, such as its contributions to the Heroes series in Hell. Its joint authors include Karl Edouard Wagner, Janet Morris, Stephen Michael Stirling, and Eric Flint. With Wagner and Jim Groce, it was one of the founders of Carcosa Press.

Its most known work is the series Hammer' S Slammers, series of science fiction military. Like more recent series, he writes in the universe of the RCN, a series of opera of the space inspired by the novels of Aubrey-Maturin which much more strongly concentrates on the development of the characters and less on the military aspects. He also contributed to the series of Belisarius series (written by Eric Flint), and the series of the General (written by Stephen Michael Stirling). Drake is listed as a joint author of these books, including the series " Crisis off Empire" , but he voluntarily admits that he carried out more the small portion of work.

In 1997 Drake began its greater series of Fantasy, the lord of the islands (Lord off the Isles), by using elements of the religion sumérienne and technologies medieval. In 2005, the series counted 6 published books, with a seventh envisaged in 2006.
