David Balcombe Wingate
David Balcombe Wingate is ornithologist, Naturaliste and guard of British nature , born the October 11th 1935 with the Bermuda.
In 1951, with Robert Cushman Murphy (1887-1973) and Louis S. Mowbrey, it redécouvre one which one thought extinct since 1620, the petrel of Bermuda. This encourages it to study the Zoologie with the Université Cornell before returning to Bermuda to occupy there the role of Chief Conservation Officer, function which it preserves until its departure at the retirement in 2000. In order to ensure the conservation of this petrel, he undertakes to restore an island in his pre-colonial ecological state. He is made member of the Ordre of the British Empire in 2001 in reward of his services for the environmental conservation.
