Dave Fleischer

Dave Fleischer is a realizer, producer, scenario writer, actor and American type-setter born the July 14th 1894 with New York, New York (the United States), deceased the June 25th 1979 with Woodland Hills (Los Angeles).

He is the younger brother of max Fleischer, with which he competed with the studios Disney in the Années 1920 on the market incipient from cartoon film, through their studios Out off the Inkwell Films then Red Seal Pictures (in partnership with Edwin Miles Fadiman and Hugo Riesenfeld). After a financial rout the Fleischer brothers found refuge near the Paramount.

Biography

Dave and max created together the character of KoKo (for whom Dave posed itself), then took again characters of comics like Popeye of Elzie Crisler Segar or Betty Boop of Bud Counihan in cartoon. Dave carried out the majority of films produced by the two brothers. Many technical innovations were tested by Fleischer, like ground animation (ancestor of animation in modeling clay), or mixes it between drawn animation and films played by actors (on the model followed well later by Roger Rabbit ), as in the film The Masquerade (1924).
