Dathí

Dathi or Nath Í mac Fiachrae king of Tared and laughed Ard Érenn of 405 with 428 (according to the traditional dates of the Annales of the four Masters)

Semi-legendary character, Dathi is the son junior by Fiachrae, born from the union of Eochaid Mugmedon with Mongfhinn the girl of Fidach Éoganachta.

Dathi would have succeeded on the throne of Tara his/her uncle Niall Noigiallach. It is credited by the Annales with the four Masters with a one duration reign 23 years and its death is recorded at the year 428 where it is specified that it was killed by a flash of the lightning in Slibh Ealpa.

The Annales of Ulster push back this date with 445 and indicate that its death would have occurred in the the Alps (?). The Annalists agree then and indicate that it had as a successor his first cousin Lóegaire mac Néill.

Dathi contracted according to the tradition three unions:

1) Fial girl of Eochu of which

  • Eochaid Bric ancestor of the Ui Fhiachrach Aidne

2) Eithne girl of Conri Cas of which

  • Fiachrae Elgach ancestor of the Ui Fhiachrach Muaide

3) Ruad girl of Airtech of which
