Data-processing language

One calls data-processing language all formal Language used with an unspecified title in the definition or the operation of a Information system. The term however is used in certain contexts in the more restrictive direction of Computer programming language.

The data-processing languages are in general classified according to their type of use. The following list is not exhaustive.

  • Computer programming languages to write programs and software.
  • graphic Languages for the design like UML
  • Languages of beaconing for the presentation or the structuring of contents, like HTML or XML
  • Languages for the Specification or the formal methods
  • Languages describing the syntactic rules of other languages, like the notation BNF
  • Query languages like SQL or SPARQL
