Dascylion
Dascylion is a city based in 659 av. J. - C. on banks of the Propontide (current the Marmara Sea), with the mouth of the river Rhyndacos, by the king of Lydie Gygès. Its objective is to counterbalance the influence of the city Ionie of Milet which had based in 756 av. J. - C. on same banks the colony of Cyzique.
Dascylion knows a considerable growth under the domination Perse starting from 546 av. J. - C., because it is the capital various satrap S of Phrygie such Pharnabaze or Arsitès. The city is taken by Parménion in 334 av. J. - C. Its importance strongly decreases under the hellenistic Period and Roman.
