Das klagende Lied

Das Klagende Lied is a Cantate layman for soli, chorus and orchestra that Gustav Mahler wrote at 17 years. It borrowed the history from two Conte S, of which one of the brothers Grimm.

Work is divided into three parts:

  2. Der Spielmann
  3. Hochzeitsstück

Mahler presented this work to a contest and she was considered to be too modern. Johannes Brahms belonged to the jury.

Argument and analyzes

A king promises his daughter with that which will find the flower red. Two brothers leave to his research. Âiné keep silent the junior.
