Darrell K. Royal-Texas Stadium Memorial
The Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium is a stage of American football of 85.123 places located on the campus of the University off Texas At Austin in the town of Austin at the Texas. The university football team American of the Texas Longhorn Athletics evolves/moves in this inaugurated enclosure the November 27th 1924 which counted 27.000 places then. This stage is the property of the University off Texas At Austin.
Memorial Stadium, name initial of the stage, refers to dead First World War. The name of Darrell K. Royal, trainer of Longhorn Athletics of 1957 with 1976, was added in 1996.
This enclosure was often in work in order to increase its capacity. As of 1926, the stage counts 40.500 places then 60.130 in 1948, 75.504 in 1975 and 80.082 in 1999. The next phase of work will begin in 2008 and will carry the capacity to more than 90.000 places, becoming thus the greatest stage of the Texas.
The stage included/understood in the beginning a track of Athlétisme, but the latter was removed during work of 1999.
Between 1969 and 1996, the surface of play was artificial.
