Darnétal is a common French located in the department of the Seine-Maritime and the area High-Normandy.
Geography
History
Darnétal is crossed by two small rivers, the Robec and the Aubette which actuated in the past many mill S. As from the 15th century, and more particularly at the 18th century and 19th century, their banks accommodate spinning mills of textiles (the factory Fromage maintaining the school of architecture of Normandy is installed in this old textile factory, at the edge of Robec; the factory Millets, dyeing Tamboise,… . Other companies the reglissery Risser and the cressonnières were at that time established on this working city which knew its decline during or a few years after the second world war. Darnétal has two churches Saint-Ouen de Longpaon and Carville which formerly formed two distinct parishes. It is told that the future Henri IV looked at top of the tower of the church of Carville the engagements between the catholic and Protestant troops. Towards the beginning of the twentieth century, the two districts around these two churches, a competition of bell-towers reigned: " Me, I am of longpaon" ; according to the legend, it appears that " was said; Longpoan cursed ground, Carville ground bénite".
