Darling

Chéri is the title of a novel of Colette, published in 1920.

Lea de Lonval, a courtesan of almost fifty years, is the mistress of Fred Peloux, called Chéri. As it tests the increasing lack of conviction of her young lover, Lea feels, with a disillusioned amazement and the clearness of the bitterness, the least effects of a passion which will be the last. However it will suffice for Chéri to marry the young person and tender Edmée to understand that the rupture with Lea does not go without regrets.

Painting narquoise of a certain medium society man, the subtle analysis of the female heart, the cruel charms of the seduction, a little sad humor of the novelist make Chéri one of works more attaching and the most famous of Colette.
