Darling-Bibi

Darling-Bibi is the hero of a Romance with episodes of Gaston Leroux. It puts in scene a convict shown of a crime which it did not commit and which, following an operation of Cosmetic surgery, will take the skin of the true assassin: Maxime of Touched. Under the features of this one, Darling-Bibi finds happiness marital with Cécily, the woman whom he always loved. But Maxime of Touched is the murderer of his father-in-law.
Novels
The style of the novels, in addition to the characteristics suitable for the melodrama and the novel of the miscarriage of justice, “kind” which was a great success at the end of the 19th century, is characterized by the humor squeaking and macabre whose novelist was usual.The First Adventures of Darling-Bibi appear initially in 120 daily serials in the Morning , from April 7th to August 4th, 1913. The continuation, New the Dawn , will wait the post-war period to appear, in 110 daily serials, always in the Morning , between on April 18th and on August 7th, 1919. Lastly, the Coup d'etat of Darling-Bibi is published, in 81 daily serials in the Morning , between on July 16th and on October 4th, 1925, under the initial title of Darling-Bibi, the peanut merchant.
Anecdotes
- In the first episode of Darling-Bibi , the String concocte a receipt of which it has the secrecy: the Cod with Spanish. Gaston Leroux details the preparation and addresses to his reader: “Test and will say you to me news! ”
- the novelist liked to underline macabre incongruities or imaginations with which its work is strewn while writing in italics. The operation of Cosmetic surgery, which is in fact double only one écorchage, thus decorates cries like this “Step the fingers! Not fingers! ” which plunges the reader in perplexity.

Several filmed and televised adaptations Darling-Bibi were carried out.- the first would be due to Charles Krauss (1914) with Emile Keppens in the role of Darling-Bibi ( First adventures of Darling Bibi ).
- Follows, starting from a scenario of Gaston Leroux itself, another adaptation in 1918. It is New the Dawn , of Edouard-Emile Violet, produced and carried out by the films Rene Navarre (the latter endorsing the role of Palas), which will be then adapted to be diffused in serial in the Morning starting from April 25th, 1919.
- Carlos Borcosque carries out a Darling-Bibi hispanisant in 1931 with Ernesto Vilches in the main role and María Fernanda Ladrón de Guevara in the role of Cecilia.
- Pierre Fresnay incarnates Darling-Bibi in the film éponyme of Leon Mathot, in 1937 (N and B, 120 minutes). One finds there also Jean-Pierre Aumont, Marcel Dalio. The music is of Paul Misraki.
- Marcel Pagliero sign a Franco-Italian Darling-Bibi in 1952 (music of Georges Auric) with Jean Richard in the title role (colors, 84 minutes).
- In 1974, a Television serial in 46 13 minutes episodes, was diffused on TF1, starting from the December 16th.
