Darkstar One is a space Video game of action left in 2006 functioning under Windows. The play was developed by Ascaron Software then published by KOCH Media.

History

A long time ago, took place the Galactique Great War. It started when Mortoks détruirent Damoklès whereas this one was on mission of inspection: it was it, from now on disastrous, incidental Damoklès .

This war thus opposed Land the, allied ones with Oc' tos, and Mortoks, combined with Arracks and Raptors. Only Thuls, which, providing weapons to everyone, had adopted an apparent neutrality.

After 40 years of uninterrupted battles, the war ended. Only Thuls, whose territory had doubled with the wire of the confrontations along their borders, had known to draw their pin from the play.

To prevent that similar horror does not reproduce, the Land ones proposed to found the Galactic Union , to which, after many deliberations, all the races except notable for Thuls, were to join.

For the latter, the war having been positive, to seek to create an intergalactic organization was only one new proof of the weakness of the other races. Indeed, since always, they undertake scientific experiments (in particular genetic) to which these other races, which they regard as savages, undisciplined and being the " imperfect gene défectueux" product; , is opposite. The player incarnates Kayron jarvis, orphan whose father was killed by Thuls at the time of a mission. But he learns that the vessel of his/her father had been sabotaged. He thus will put himself at the research of the culprit, in order to appease his thirst for revenge.

Gameplay

This play of the same kind that Freelancer, is played the mouse and the keyboard, or Joystick/Joypad, to direct the vessel, and with the keyboard as regards the orders of play (others that piloting).

The Darkstar One

Improvement of the vessel

Actions

To defend in this pitiless universe, it is necessary equipment for you, much of equipment. This one is acquired in the stations of trade, realizing finances, or during certain special missions (i.e.: drive out free with the pirates). The money is obtained while trading or by carrying out various missions, available on the terminals of the stations of trade. These missions go from the simple hunting to the man to the mission of espionage. Following the example Freelancer, when you kill out of the pirates, you automatically gain Appropriations (currency of the play) in the form of reward of the government.

The trade, as for him, consists with the purchase of goods of export at low prices and their resale in systems where these goods are rarer, according to the well-known principle of supply and.

Of the bargain hunter to the pirate without scruples, while passing through the honest merchant and the smuggler, your actions confer a reputation to you which you will have to trail with you lasting all the part.

This reputation offers more or less interesting no-claims bonus/maluses according to your style of play, such as:

  • Bargain hunter: the pirates much more often attack you in the rebellious systems.
  • Mercenary: the missions bring back more money once finished.
  • Commercial: the goods with export are less expensive for you.
  • Smuggler: The police force supervises Darkstar One more attentively.

It should be noted that these effects appear only when the reputation is high in the field concerned.

Stellar systems and trade

The stellar systems have their own type of government, copied on the governments which existed in our history. They have each one 0-2 types of prohibited goods (smuggling):
  • Democracy: (smuggling: androïdes, narcotics), high safety
  • Empire: (smuggling: video games, narcotics), high safety
  • Dictatorship: (smuggling: video games, luxury items), average safety
  • Monarchy: (smuggling: luxury items, androïdes), average safety
  • Federation: (not of smuggling), low safety
  • Anarchy: (not of smuggling), low safety
  • the stellar systems are also classified according to their membership or not of the Galactic Union (Union - Neutrals - Rebels), their types of productions (drugs, isotopes, manure…) and their level of richness (Rich - Thrives - poor).

The proportion of pirates can also vary according to the governments and the membership of the Union: in a rebellious system subjected to anarchy, there will be more pirates than in a democracy belonging to the galactic Union.
