Dark Maul

Dark Maul ( Darth Maul in original version) (born in 57 av. BY - 32 av. BY) of the Star Wars are a character which appear in only the episode I.

Card-index identity

Its true name, before rocking of the obscure side of the Force, is completely unknown, because it was removed by Sidious in its early childhood, and any memory of its true identity (note does not have: many false rumors were emitted by various sources as for the true name of Dark Maul, most famous being certainly Khameir Sarim, emitted by SuperShadow.com).

It belongs to the species of the Zabraks of Iridonia. At a very young age, it is removed from its family. Nourished by hatred and anger, he becomes the first apprentice of Dark Sidious. It is one of the most frightening Lords Sith and best trained.

Its skill to handle the saber doubles is impressive and a capacity of intimidation even more powerful gives him than its physical appearance. It has a perfect command of a derivative of the Shape VII of combat to the laser saber: Juyo (the other derived from this form being the Vaapad, created by Mace Windu).

Role in the phantom Threat

Little before the events Episode I, it destroys, under the order of its Master, the criminal organization of the black Sun, so that those do not disturb the plans of Dark Sidious. Wild and cruel, dedicated with the only cause of its Master, it cuts down Which-Gon Jinn, the Master of Obi-Wan Kenobi, at the end of a fierce combat.

Arrogant and too sure of him, it is overcome at the end of this same combat by Obi-Wan Kenobi which divides it into two parts of a blow of saber-laser (a blow called “Sai tok” in arts Jedi).

It will be recovered later by Dark Sidious in the well and since it could not spend one day without being able to try to kill Obi-Wan. Later, he learned that the padawan (become Sith) of its sworn enemy had a son. He thus left towards Tatooine to the family farm Lars, being sure that its enemy would show himself and it was the case. After a combat without mercy, Dark Maul was found knelt with the laser saber of Obi-Wan pointed on its face but in a surplus of rage, the uncle de Luke, Owen, drew to him above and it was the end of Dark Maul.

In year 0, little time before the Battle of Yavin, a group of Jedi Noirs arrived to ressusciter Dark Maul. It is not known if this resurrection of Maul were the work of the cloning or Sith Alchemy or of any another means. Thus, to show the superiority of pure Sith on old Jedi converted at the Obscure Side, and also to give to the Emperor an apprentice worthy of this name, Jedi Noirs decided to make clash Maul and Vador. There Vador was attracted on the volcanic moon of Kalakar VI, thinking of finding the plans of Star of Death stolen by the Rebels, at least according to information which it had received. The stormtroopers accompanying it being promptly eliminated, Vador was found vis-a-vis Maul, Jedi Noirs explaining the reasons of the combat to him to come before leaving Vador and Maul to clash in a duel epic.

Of the two combatants, Dark Maul proved to be nimblest. Nevertheless, Dark Vador proved of a great robustness and of a direction of the improvisation raised, with the result that the combat lasted and was off-set above an underground river of lava to deepest of the caves of Kalakar VI. Always clashing on rocks in the middle of the river of lava, Vador managed to cut the double laser saber of Maul into two, which however used the two halves to submerge Vador and to put it at knee. Whereas the floating rock where they were approached a cascade of magma, and which Maul was on the point of carrying the blow of thanks to Vador, this one was run away by an operation as suicidal as unforeseeable: it caught its laser saber and transpierced the belly for better spitting Dark Maul which was held just behind him. Since Vador held more machine, this master stroke did not risk to be to him fatal.

Thus the Lord Sith Zabrak died one second time, of the hand of Vador, his active body to be consumed with the foot of the cascade of lava.

Interpret

Dark Maul is interpreted by Ray Park in Episode I. It was initially to be useful for the cascades of film, but George Lucas entrusted the role of Dark Maul to him little before turning. However its voice is doubled by Peter Serafinowicz. Its voice in French version is that of Marc Bretonniere.
