Darien is a city located in the county of Fairfield, in the State of the Connecticut (the United States). According to the census of 2000, Darien had a total population of 19.607 inhabitants.

Geography

According to the Office of the Census of the United States, surface of the east city of 38,4 km ², including 33,3 km ² of grounds and 5,2 km ² of water levels (either 13,41%).

Demography

According to the Census of 2000, there were 19.607 inhabitants, 6.592 households, and 5.385 families in the city. The Population density was of 588,7 hab/km ². There were 6.792 houses with a density of 203,9 maisons/km ². The ethnic decomposition of the population was: 95,97% white; 0,45% black; 0,04% Amerindian; 2,42% Asian S; 0,03% natives of the islands of the Peaceful ; 0,30% of the other races; 0,80% of two or more races. 2,19% of the population were Hispanique or Latino of any race.

There were 6.592 households, of which 46,4% had children of less than 18 years, 74,5% were married couples , 5,6% had a woman who was isolated relative, and 18,3% were not-family households. 15,6% of the households were made up people alone and 8,3% 65 years people alone or more. The average household comprised 2,95 people and the average family had 3,31 people.
