Daoulas ( Daoulaz in Breton, which means two rivers from where the name of the city crossed by the Nice one and Lézuzan ) is a common department of the Finistere, in the area Brittany, in France.

Geography

This commune is located at the confluence of two rivers, Nice the and Lézuzan and draws its name from it (of Breton the daou meaning two and of the word knell meaning river ). This commune is located at the bottom of the roads of Brest.

History

At the beginning a simple feudal mound (6th century) transform later in fortress, the city takes importance with the creation of the abbey at the 12th century. The city then develops around its port on Nice the, its mill and its markets where the fabrics of flax of Daoulas are exchanged (15th century). This commune is known for facts related to the Révolte of the Red Bonnets in 1675. At the 19th century, the local economy evolves/moves with the creation of a porcelain factory (destroyed in 1897) and canning facilities like with the creation of the way Brest - Quimper (1858).
