Dannemois

Dannemois is a common French, located in the department of the the Essonne and the area Île-de-France.

The village comprised many career S of sandstone. One still sees with the solid mass of Louvetière, of the texts engraved by the workmen; the place is still called the Rock éctite .

Monuments and sites

  • the Saint-Mammes church of the 11th century and 12th century, whose chorus collapsed on January 1st 1900.
  • the Manor of Louveterie built starting from the 12th century, at the same time manor seigneurial and firm strengthened, was used as hospital of countryside in 1940. It was acquired in the years 1970 by the sculptors Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint Phalle.

  • Dannemois is crossed right through by the named Rivière the École.

Important character

Dannemois is known to have been the country residence of Claude François with the Moulin of the village. It is buried in the small cemetery where its tomb is the object of many visits of its admirors.

The mill, after the death of the singer in 1978, knew various fortunes. Today, it is transformed while restoring where one can find many memories of the singer.
