Daniel Pearl

Daniel Pearl (October 10th 1963 - 29/January 30th, 2002) is a Jewish Journaliste American removed, then assassinated with Karachi with the Pakistan.

Biography

Pearl was born with Princeton in the New Jersey and grows with Encino in the south of the California. His/her father, Judea Pearl , was a professor of UCLA. Daniel obtained a license in communication of the Université Stanford in 1985. After having worked for various newspapers, it entered in 1990 to the The Wall Street Journal and worked there until its death. It became abroad corresponding in 1996 and he was the chief of the office for the South Asia, based with Mumbai in India when he was removed. He was especially known for his articles A-heads speaking about astonishing events.

Its death

He went to Pakistan to carry out a survey into Richard Reid. This last had been stopped then condemned, to have wanted to make jump a plane with a bomb dissimulated in its shoes.

The January 23rd 2002, whereas it was to interview the sheik Mubarak Ali Shah Gilani, a supposed terrorist chief, Pearl is removed by a militant group, the national movement for the restoration of Pakistani sovereignty directed by a Djihad ist named Omar Sheikh. This group, which maintained the contacts at the same time with Al-Qaida and ISI, claimed that Pearl was a spy and, by using the email kidnapperguy@hotmail.com, presented to the the United States several requests of which release of several prisoners Pakistani (imprisoned under the pretext of the Guerre against terrorism) and the resumption of the sale of F-16 at the Pakistani government.

The message said:

We give U 1 more day yew America will not meet our demands we will kill Daniel. Then this cycle will continues and No American journalist could enter Pakistan. ( We still give you a day if the America does not fill our requests we kill Daniel. Then this cycle will continue and no American Journaliste will be able to enter to Pakistan ).

Photographs of Pearl threatened by a gun and holding a newspaper were united with the message.

There was no answer to the requests, that it is by the editor of Pearl, nor of its Marianne wife who was pregnant of their first child.

Six days later, Pearl was cut the throat of not without to have been constrained to say: “My father is Jewish, my mother is Jewish, I am Jewish. Close to the town of B' nai Braq in Israel there has a street which bears the name of my large father Chayim Pearl who is one of the founders of the city. ” According to the father of the journalist, the terrorists could not know this last detail whose only close family was with the current. It would be thus about a direct message addressed by Daniel to his family meaning that he pronounced freely and consciously his last words.

Its body then was cut up and cut out in 9 pieces. The February 21st a video, named The Slaughter off the Spy-Journalist, the Jew Daniel Pearl ( execution of the spy-journalist, the Jewish Daniel Pearl ) is diffused on Internet.

Its body is found the May 16th in the surroundings of Karachi.

Omar Sheikh delivered itself later on to the police force and acknowledged the removal of the American journalist. It made call of its judgment with the capital punishment.

Reactions

Daniel Pearl was American, but it was initially a journalist and, for this reason, a defender of these universal values which are freedoms to think and to publish… French and European indignation, if prompt to appear to denounce the salary the prisoners Taliban of Guantanamo, should thus have resounded high and strong. Alas! we did not understand anything, or if little.
