Daniel Mayer
Daniel Mayer was born the April 29th 1909 with Paris, died the December 29th 1996, was a French politician.
Biography

Near to Leon Blum, it is eliminated by Guy Mollet as a general secretary from SFIO in 1946 and has difficult relations with its successor. It belongs to the socialist minority which does not approve the return of the Général de Gaulle in 1958 and takes part in the foundation of the Union of the democratic forces then PSA become PSU in 1960, leaves this formation in 1967 and returns to the PS in 1970 to the section Jean-Baptiste Clément in the 18th district then in Orsay.
He resigns of his function of deputy in 1958 to chair the Ligue of the Human rights (of which he has been member for his 18 years) until in 1975, then the International federation of the Human rights of 1977 with 1983.
Named by François Mitterrand, it chairs the Constitutional council February 21st 1983 the February 19th 1986, date on which it is replaced by Robert Badinter. There remains member of this council until the February 25th 1992. He writes that the " law expresses the general will only in the respect of Constitution".
Daniel Mayer seems a Socialist of a great moral rigor. At the time of its death, Lionel Jospin raised that " in its political commitment, it chose courage, the honor and the justice". It made gift of its body to science, like his wife died in 1976.
